Marcelino, Tan rule 2nd Phoenix Open
 
Alfonso “Tibor” Marcelino and Jong Tan emerged as team champions in the Araw ng Dabaw 2nd Phoenix Open Golf tournament, March 6 at Rancho Palos Verdes Golf & Country Club.

The pair scored a total of 139 in the System 36 format. They bested Nilo Dalut and Ludwig Ledesma, Andrew Bautista and Bobby Wee, and Soc Cadayona and Ting Castillo, who placed first, second, and third runners-up respectively.

Marcelino shot four birdies with 11 pars to become the over-all gross champion. Bobby Wee scored a 68 and claimed the over-all net title.

Joe Marfori bagged the Class A gross champion crown after carding a 3 over par 75. He bested runner-up Al Rey Ceniza. Deo Cura’s net score of 69 made him Class A net champion over runner-up Joel Yamyamin.

Class B gross champion was General Franco while Nido Albarillo came second. Johnny Teves won as Class B net champion over runner-up Joe Tesdao.

Dr. Alfredo Abundo carded an 85 to win the Class C gross championship. He was followed by Lito Morada. Rodulfo Luna netted a 72 and bagged the Class C net title.

Former Davao del Norte congressman Tony Boy Floriendo won the Class D gross award with a 97. Alvin Tesado placed second. Cris Yap won net champion with a 72 over Bong Guerzon.

Air21 owner Bert Lina made a hole-in-one on no. 17 and won a brand new Kia Picanto car.

The winners all received Royal Selangor pewter plates from Phoenix Petroleum President and CEO Dennis Uy during the awarding ceremonies that night at the Rancho Palos Country Club.
